Ophelia’s Rest is a collaborative series between fashion photographer Tess Everett and artist Buff Diss, taking inspiration from Shakespeare’s character Ophelia. Working solely in the medium of tape, Buff Diss has built a sprawling graphic landscape reflecting the character’s thwart mental journey. All throughout this landscape, Everett has deftly captured her subjects, contrasting kinetic linear states with fierce beauty. The series pulls the viewer through the aesthetics of bliss and madness, forcing the question - was Ophelia’s tale one of tragic submission or defiance.
I've always meant to draw more than I do. A good opportunity came in the form of a drawing competition based on the theme of Greek culture in Australia. The piece made the finals but it was more an exercise in putting pen to paper again. The figure is based on one of the Riace Bronzes, the below video gives a great insight into the sculpture, and is embraced by Australian flora.
